amanfuisme asked: So as I said in the reply to the post originally, you can go to http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/mathematics/18-02-multivariable-calculus-fall-2007/
which gives you the multivariable calculus (calc 3) video lectures and a directory of stuff.

And my dad (massive nerd XD) says go to http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcIII/CalcIII.aspx
there are probably a bunch of other...

mathforlove: This week’s New Yorker features an article on voting, and it’s a good read. What does this have to do with mathematics? Well, mathematicians have been thinking about building the best kind of democracy for some time, and the unpleasant result is, it seems to be impossible to have a voting system that represents the people’s will perfectly. The actual mathematical result, known,...

The Toyota Camry Good Will Hunting Hidden Math... →
blitzfulthinking: bestweekever: There is a new Toyota Camry commercial out right now, and there is a secret math problem hidden inside of it.  The ad features the Boller family whose parents have been continually passing down a Camry to their progressively younger children.  I’ve been glued to the TV for the past month waiting for the commercial to re-air and seeing If I could gather enough...

For anyone interested, this is a paper I highly reccomend you read. A mathematician, Paul Lockhart, says what he sees is wrong with the way mathematics is taught, how it should be taught, and what can be done to fix the problem. It’s a really great read! (submitted by logicallypositive)

Anyone know of any quality texts for self-studying...
To the anonymous person who asked: My text recommendations probably wouldn’t be of much help since I didn’t have to self-study it, however, I’d highly recommend just taking it as a sit-in course (if you can), since the majority (if not all) of Calc 3 is visual and so it would probably be more advantageous to you not learning from just a textbook.
